Surf Life Saving NSW is pleased to announce the appointment of the organisation’s first independent director to join the seven elected members of the Board.
This appointment is one of two independent directors who will be joining the Board to help steer the future strategic direction of the organisation.
Lisa Lennon, an active patrol member of Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club, is a partner at a major law firm and specialises in intellectual property, trade mark and brand protection services.
“On behalf of the board, I’m delighted to welcome Lisa to the organisation and I’m excited by the opportunity this gives us to expand on the skill sets and expertise of our board as a whole,” said SLSNSW President Peter Agnew ESM.
“Lisa’s professional and commercial experience and expertise in areas such as marketing and advising organisations in the not-for-profit sector will be a great resource for us in terms of complementary capabilities,” he said.
Ms Lennon and her family have been involved in Surf Life Saving for the last 20 years and she is passionate about recruitment, retention and membership engagement. Spending time on patrol at Bondi beach has also given her a strong interest in community education, given the volume and diversity of beach users.
“I am proud to be actively involved in Surf Life Saving and have nothing but admiration for the vast number of committed volunteers who prevent harm and save so many lives each year. I am looking forward to contributing to the organisation beyond club level and using my business and professional skills to help SLSNSW meet its strategic goals,” said Ms Lennon.
