Umina Beach will host 108 of NSW hottest athletes tomorrow with the final round of the Envirobank Super Team Series.

The new team-based event for Under 17, Under 19 and Open surf sports athletes was established at the start of the season to give our beach and water athletes the opportunity to get back into high-performance competition.

The six-team captains, all champions in their own right, were given the chance to pick their teams of 18 through an NBA-style drafting live-streamed on Facebook.

Round One saw strong performances across the board in windy conditions at Swansea Belmont with a number of rising athletes making their mark among their teams.

Tomorrow’s event will see athletes from as far south as Mollymook, who dominate the beach events, and as far north as Cudgen Headland and Lennox Head.

A number of injuries will see new draftings into teams including team captains Jay Furniss and Britney Pierce. At just 16 years-old Ryan Green from Terrigal who has been dominating local Central Coast carnivals will step in for White Team Captain Furniss. Ryan will be joined by clubmate Erin Hamilton who is in for Emelyn Wheeler in the beach events in local captain Jemma Smith’s Green Team.

Fingal’s Grace Hewitt is out but will be replaced by Mollymook’s Sprint and Flags champion Karla Jones in the point-score leading Black Team led by Nutri-Grain Ironman Jackson Borg. Jackson’s team will also be bolstered with the addition of young Jake Morris from Newport replacing Charlie Brooks, out due to injury.

Red Team Captain Dan Collins will have just one swap in with former World Beach Champion Jake Lynch of Newport replacing Ace Haslam. The event will be Jake’s first back after two years of injury turmoil.

NSW top-performing Nutri-Grain Ironwoman Lizzie Welborn who captains the Yellow Team is the only team going into the final round without any lineup changes. The young team will depend on strong performances in the individual events to make a charge for the top of the final pointscore.

*The event will be live-streamed on @SurflifesavingNSW Facebook from 9am.
