Macksville-Scotts Head SLSC were presented with their distinguished National Rescue of the Month award for the May/June period on Thursday at Canberra’s Parliament House.

The Mid North Coast club was represented in the nation’s capital by Scott Balfour who played a heroic role in the rescue of two stranded kayakers in June at Scotts Head Beach.



This courageous rescue brought surf lifesavers Jason O’Donnell (Club President), Scott Balfour, Cathryn O’Donnell, Barry Clow, David Brunsdon and Peter Dyba much recognition including NSW Rescue of the Month and the Surf Life Saving NSW Rescue of the Year award at the 2016 Awards of the Excellence.



The award was presented by Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Member for Cowper, the Honourable Luke Hartsuyker MP.



Also attending the Surf Life Saving Australia event was a host of Federal Ministers and MP’s including the co-chairs of the 44th Parliament, Sarah Henderson MP and the Honourable Matt Thistlethwaite MP.
