Surf Life Saving NSW is excited to be one of the first charity partners to benefit from the introduction of the NSW container deposit scheme.
As one of the state’s largest volunteer, community organisations, Surf Life Saving NSW will feature as one of four charities the public can donate their 10 cent container refund to through hundreds of Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) being rolled out from 1 December.
The CEO of Surf Life Saving NSW, Steven Pearce, congratulated the NSW Government and said the scheme is a great initiative.
“We see the effects of rubbish and pollution on our beautiful beaches and waterways and this scheme will help protect our environment, while offering the potential to deliver Surf Life Saving Clubs some much-needed funds as a charity partner,” said Steven Pearce.
“Surf clubs across the state are looking forward to getting involved in the scheme and will be reaching out to their local communities to make the most of this great opportunity.
“With the press of a button on the reverse vending machines, people will be able to help support our selfless surf lifesavers to protect the public and save lives on our beaches this summer.”
