Surf Life Saving NSW welcomes the election of the first female President in our 118-year history, Elissa Hancock.
Elissa brings significant depth of skill to our growing organisation, having amassed nearly four decades of experience across a range of Surf Life Saving areas, including through executive management, governance and leadership roles.
Her journey began at Era SLSC, a small surf club in the Royal National Park and progressed to her serving as President of Surf Life Saving Sydney Branch. She remains an active Patrol Captain and is Patron of Era SLSA.
Elissa is a champion for youth and an advocate for evolution across the movement. She steps into the role vacated by Peter Agnew AM who was elected to the position of President of Surf Life Saving Australia in November last year.
Professionally, Elissa is co-founder and creative director of a leading brand agency, delivering creative solutions for global brands, specialising in major sports events and intellectual property.
Elissa says she is honoured to be elected President and is looking forward to serving an organisation that has given her so much, both personally and professionally.
“I step into this role with pride, but also with a clear understanding that there is important work ahead. My commitment is to lead openly and collaboratively, to listen carefully, to value member input, and to make decisions that genuinely support our volunteers and strengthen our clubs,” said Elissa.
“It’s an opportunity to lead in a way that reflects the diversity of our membership, to foster inclusive leadership, and to encourage the next generation to see that there is a place for them at every level of our movement.”
The Board of SLSNSW congratulates Elissa on her successful election.
