Black Dog Institute – Webinar Recording

In partnership with Black Dog Institute, Professor Richard A. Bryant AC, Director of the Traumatic Stress Clinic and globally recognised expert in traumatic stress and psychological resilience, led a session for members following the Bondi Attack.

This session provided practical guidance and reassurance and shared short, medium, and long-term psychological reactions to the Bondi attacks, the shared strategies to cope with members own responses, how members can support those around them, and where to seek help if needed.

National Emergency Worker Support Service – Black Dog Institute

Run by the Black Dog Institute providing evidence-based, trauma-focused care codesigned with emergency services and backed by UNSW.

Specialists in post-incident care with trauma-informed clinicians offering up to 12 free sessions, online or face-to-face, designed for emergency workers and volunteers aged 18+.

Provides post-incident support only and is not a crisis or emergency response service.

Provides a mental health check offering quick, confidential online screening and the provision of tailored recommendations.

MAP (Converge International)

Support available to all members – no referral needed.

Converge offers a range of counsellors and psychologists for free, confidential counselling.

If your counsellor isn’t the right fit, you can request a different one.

Workers Compensation

Members can access workers compensation can help cover costs related to physical and mental health following this incident.  This includes coverage for medical and health appointments—as well as support for any time taken off work.

To lodge a workers compensation claim, you can contact Claire Bevis, who can submit the claim on your behalf so you don’t need to complete any paperwork. If you prefer, you may also contact icare directly at cssnewclaims@icare.nsw.gov.au.
