Beaches on the NSW Far South Coast will be closed today due to bushfire relief efforts being conducted by volunteer surf lifesavers.
Record numbers of people have been evacuated to four South Coast surf clubs which have been opened as evacuation centres as bushfires continue to burn out of control in southern NSW threatening lives and property.
Surf Life Saving NSW volunteer lifesavers are currently involved in two separate search and rescue operations involving missing watercraft in the state’s north.
Police have stood down surf lifesavers after several hours searching for a missing diver south of Bermagui on the states Far South Coast.
Just three weeks after attending a boating fatality at Long Reef, Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches Duty Officer Doug Lucas urges the public to think about their actions before coming to the coast.
