A second consecutive exceptionally busy day for Surf Life Saving NSW volunteer lifesavers and lifeguards has resulted in one fatality, a successful resuscitation and several high category serious incidents registered across the state.

A drowning fatality at Warriewood and successful rescues and resuscitations at North Palm Beach and Cronulla were among a spate of serious incidents up and down the NSW coastline which ensured a difficult start to the new year for lifeguards and volunteer lifesavers.

Volunteer surf lifesavers were kept on their toes this weekend, with more than 60 rescues performed in NSW and two people requiring CPR, with a middle-aged man sadly unable to be revived at Coffs Harbour on Saturday.

Surf Life Saving NSW would like to congratulate two Directors who were re-elected to the Board on Saturday, 13 November for a two-year term.

More than a century of wisdom, experience and dedication has been recognised by Surf Life Saving Australia, with two of Freshwater SLSC’s finest awarded Life Membership by the national organisation.

NSW volunteers have been recognised for their outstanding service to the community throughout the 2020-21 season at the Surf Life Saving annual National Awards of Excellence.
