Defending Open Iron champion, Ollie Sharpe and his club, Lennox Head-Alstonville SLSC, is preparing to lead the charge for the smaller clubs at the 2023 Oakberry Acai NSW Country Championships at Cape Hawke SLSC next week.

The NSW Surf Life Saving team has taken out the Interstate Championships for the fourth time in a row, showing that there is still great depth of talent among surf competitors in NSW.

A defended title three years in the making isn’t just the aim for the NSW team ahead of the Australian Surf Life Saving Interstate Championships – it’s the expectation.

Another punishing George Bass Surf Marathon was run and won, with more than 15 crews combatting big seas and strong southerly swells in the 190km race from Batemans Bay to Eden.

Surf Sports in NSW is set for a shakeup following the release of Surf Life Saving NSW’s Surf Sports Re – Imagined – an inaugural surf sports strategy which will strive to position Surf Sports as NSW’s first choice coastal sport & recreational pursuit.

The 2022 National Short Course Surf Boat Championships were held at Queenscliff at the start of December with mixed divisions put to the test for the first time. NSW crews took out 10 of the 12 events and saw two teams selected to represent Australia as a result.

A clinic of skill and speed on the beach has helped Sydney Branch to claim its first Interbranch Championship in six years, breaking a streak of three straight Sydney Northern Beaches titles in the process.
