The position is responsible for supporting the local Surf Life Saving community affected by the Bondi NSW Terrorist Attack on 14 December 2025 to lead recovery and resilience-building activities. The role engages with local Surf Life Saving members, identifies needs and strengths, facilitates access to accurate information, and supports community-led initiatives and resilience networks.

Key responsibilities of the CREC may include:

  • Identifying community resilience needs and capacity
  • Engaging with key collaborators including community organisations and stakeholders to deliver community-driven events
  • Engaging and establishing working relationships with key stakeholders, including the establishment or support of local Community Resilience Networks (where applicable)
  • Supporting recovery and resilience plans and strategies
  • Sharing information for recovery, support and resilience
  • Engaging with key recovery and resilience workers, including connecting local organisations, other CREC’s and government agencies
  • Building capacity of the community for improved future resilience

What you’ll need:

  • Qualifications in social work, social sciences, community development or community welfare, plus a minimum two years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Community development and disaster recovery knowledge
  • Planning and project management experience
  • Valid Working with Children Check and National Criminal History Check
  • Current driver’s licence and ability to undertake travel
  • Ability to work outside standard hours as required.

Position: Full-Time – 12-month contract
