The Events Operations Officer ensures that all lifeguard and event safety services consistently meet contractual requirements, as well as providing operational support to the Surf Life Saving Services (SLSS) event safety team. About the role

The Officer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving systems that enhance management and supervisory reporting capabilities. This role will also help oversee the successful delivery of Western Sydney lifeguarding contracts, including participating as an active lifeguard during operational periods.

Some of the key duties will include:

  • Support operational delivery of event safety and water safety services, ensuring compliance with contracts, SOPs, and standards.
  • Support casual event safety staff and support Lifeguard Coordinators & supervisors to ensure regional service delivery.
  • Manage equipment, including scheduling replacements/repairs and overseeing maintenance.
  • Assist in recruitment, rostering, and asset management (uniforms, first aid consumables, equipment).
  • Prepare event safety plans and documentation, collate timesheets, and ensure all staff complete required inductions.
  • Oversee lifeguard operations within allocated contracts, ensuring team professionalism, compliance, and community safety.
  • Operate as lifeguard or event staff during peak periods as needed.
  • Supervise equipment maintenance and coordinate replacements/repairs.
  • Daily extensive travel to beach locations as required
  • Support maintenance of ALS Quality, Safety, and Environmental Management certifications and complete relevant business system training.

What you’ll need:

  • Substantial experience and technical knowledge in medical, lifeguarding, or similar public safety roles.
  • Ability and willingness to work as a lifeguard during operational periods, including locations across Western and Greater Sydney, as agreed with management.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a cohesive team environment.
  • Well developed analytical and conceptual planning skills, with sound judgement.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including prioritizing tasks, coordinating activities, and meeting deadlines independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management.
  • Willingness and ability to travel intra-state as required.
  • Unrestricted Motor Vehicle License with confidence in towing.
  • Commitment to ethical practices, WHS, Positive Duty, Child Safety, EEO, and anti-discrimination.
  • Current relevant SLSA Awards: Bronze Medallion, Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate, Provide First Aid, Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue, and Silver Medallion Beach Management.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required.
