Surf Life Saving NSW members and initiatives will contest four categories at the upcoming NSW Community Sports Awards, while one of the faces behind country surf sports’ greatest success story of the 2020’s will be recognised with a Distinguished Service Award.

Terrigal SLSC’s Ryan Quick is a contender for the Community Coach of the Year category, while a squad he has directly impacted – the Terrigal U17 Female Ski Relay Team – are finalists in the Community Team of the Year award.

Both Central Coast nominees present strong cases to the judges after they contested the same categories at the 2024 SLSNSW Awards of Excellence, with Ryan emerging victorious on that night in August last year.

Surf Life Saving NSW will also be recognised for its 2025 NSW Championships, which brought more than 20,000 competitors, officials and spectators through the competition area over the course of the two weeks in Manly during March.

It is the largest event of its kind in NSW and is up for the Community Event of the Year award.

Meanwhile, the President of Warilla Barrack Point SLSC – the club boasting three successive years of NSW Country Championships success – Alan Beveridge will receive a small token of appreciation for his decades of dedication when he receives the Distinguished Long Service Award.

The awards will be presented on Monday 30 June at CommBank Stadium in Parramatta, recognising outstanding achievements and contributions to community sport in NSW – largely carried out by a volunteer workforce.
