The Peer Support Program is a volunteer member contact, support and referral program founded on the principles of Psychological First Aid (PFA).

The Peer Support Program aims to enhance and expand upon the SLSNSW Peer Support and Critical Incident Framework and our organisational commitment to member and employee wellbeing. Peer support will play a key role in supporting members and employees following critical incidents and/or as a result of issues in their day-to-day lives.  Wellbeing Officers will focus on providing support and promoting wellbeing within their club community.

Wellbeing Officers (previously Club Peer Supporters) focus on promoting wellbeing and providing support within their local club community. They encourage early help-seeking behaviors and offer personal and club-related support within regular club activities.

Peer Support Officers (previously Branch Peer Support Officers) provide on-the-ground support following critical incidents. They assist Duty Officers with scene management, conduct well checks post-incident, and refer members to professional support services when needed. The removal of ‘Branch’ in this title reflects the cross-branch approach that has been successfully implemented in many locations across the state.
