As the NSW Trainer of the Year for 2017, Susan Croad is extremely dedicated to ensuring that frontline surf lifesavers have the skills and knowledge needed to be safe and deliver the best possible experience for beachgoers when they are out on patrol.

Over 300 of the state’s finest surf lifesavers took time out away from the ocean on Saturday night to celebrate a successful season at a glittering ceremony in Sydney.

It’s a universal truth that all good things eventually do come to an end and after 60 summers of patrolling the beaches of Coogee, Collaroy and Crowdy Head the time has come for John Ward to hang up his lifesaving cap.

Our Profile of the Month for July is Robert Readman from Cabarita Beach SLSC. Rob is the Chief Training Officer for his local club and was recently announced as a Trainer of the Year finalist for the 2016 Awards of Excellence. A latecomer to the Surf Life Saving family joining just three seasons ago, Rob has had an enormous impact on the movement.

The sad passing of Midget Farrelly was a shock for many people in the surf community.

Surf lifesavers signed off on the 2015/16 season in style at the annual NSW Surf Life Saving Awards of Excellence in Sydney on Saturday evening. Over 350 surf lifesavers traded their red and yellow patrol uniforms for formal wear at the glittering celebration which was proudly presented by Stramit Building Products.

With the games of the 31st Olympiad officially coming to a close in Rio this week, Surf Life Saving NSW would like to acknowledge the efforts of those current and former members of the lifesaving community who took their talents to the world stage.
