The sad passing of Midget Farrelly was a shock for many people in the surf community.

Surf lifesavers signed off on the 2015/16 season in style at the annual NSW Surf Life Saving Awards of Excellence in Sydney on Saturday evening. Over 350 surf lifesavers traded their red and yellow patrol uniforms for formal wear at the glittering celebration which was proudly presented by Stramit Building Products.

It’s almost time to celebrate the commitment and heroic actions of the season’s most outstanding volunteer surf lifesavers at the 2017 Surf Life Saving NSW Awards of Excellence, proudly presented by Stramit Building Products.

With the games of the 31st Olympiad officially coming to a close in Rio this week, Surf Life Saving NSW would like to acknowledge the efforts of those current and former members of the lifesaving community who took their talents to the world stage.

Our Profile of the Month for August is Mitanne Doughney from Red Rock-Corindi SLSC. The President and Club Captain has been involved with Surf Life Saving for 20 years, and is passionate about developing her club into the future.

On Sunday 16 October 89 surf clubs from across NSW will throw open their doors to the public to give an insight into the vital role that the modern day surf lifesaver plays within their community.

Our Profile of the Month for September is William Vaughan-Smith from Bermagui SLSC. The 20-year-old joined Surf Life Saving three seasons ago for the chance to socialise with his peers. It proved to be a fruitful decision as he has become heavily involved with the movement, which culminated in being awarded the title of Far South Coast Lifesaver of the Year for 2016.

This Sunday 16 October, Surf Life Saving Clubs across the state will be inviting the public to take a look inside and see what being part of a surf club is all about.

Sydney’s most innovative Nipper Program is back for a fourth season this weekend when over 100 aspiring youngsters will suit up at Wet ‘n’ Wild Sydney for a program that promises to be bigger and better than ever.
