All roads are leading to a huge finals package on Sunday at Warilla Barrack Point SLSC after another huge day at the 2025 NSW Country Championships saw some medals awarded and finals places earned in the South Coast sun.

Athletes experienced four seasons in one day and some extremely challenging surf, but faced it all with a huge smile and some incredible skills as the first day of the 2025 NSW Country Championships was contested at Warilla Barrack Point surf club on Friday 24 January. 

Surf Life Saving clubs from regional NSW have their boards and skis packed and have hit the road to Warilla with the 2025 NSW Country Championships ready to run from this Friday and across the weekend, January 24–26, at Warilla-Barrack Point SLSC on the state’s South Coast. 

Five NSW athletes have progressed to the final weekend of the new-look Iron Series after a huge weekend in Newcastle also saw Newport SLSC’s Lizzie Welborn outlast a stacked field to win the Eliminator event on Sunday. 

Seven NSW athletes have progressed to the next rounds of the new-look Iron Series after a gruelling weekend at Wanda beach saw the field of 56 athletes whittled down to 44. 

Six wins on the trot was brought up in style by the NSW squad at the Australian Interstate Beach and Ocean Championships at Wanda on 13 December, even though a nail-biting finish saw just five points separate first and second when the podium was announced. 

A focused and in-form NSW select group of Youth and Open athletes are preparing to defend six years of history on Friday 13 December when the Australian Interstate Ocean Championships descends on Wanda beach as a precursor to a huge weekend of surf sports.
