The 2020 NSW Surf Life Saving Championships are off to a flying start at Swansea Belmont as more than 2700 Nippers from across the state hit the water and the sand at Blacksmiths Beach.

Hayley Smith from Cudgen Headland SLSC is attending her 10th State Champs this year. At 18, Hayley has developed into a talented surf competitor representing the Far North Coast branch and the NSW Country team at the Interstate Championships.
Tom Bridge from Avoca SLSC will compete in his last Your local club Inclusive Champs this year ahead of transitioning into the Under 12s Nippers program in 2021.
Harold Marshall is a member the 2018/19 NSW Club of the Year, Umina SLSC. This year he celebrates a decade since completing his Bronze Medallion. Not only did he attend the State Champs as the proud parent of upcoming athletes (Davara, 14 and Lucy, 12) and an official, he also hosted live stream and hosts the State Champs highlights show to be aired on SBS this Sunday 19 April 3-4pm.
It was a long trip well worth it for the Far South Coast competitors who travelled to Kingscliff, over 1200 kms from the fire grounds for the 2020 Envirobank NSW Country Surf Life Saving Championships. There were just 10 of them but they took home some of the most prestigious medals on offer.
It was a big trip for the 144 South Coast competitors to compete at the 2020 Envirobank NSW Country Surf Life Saving Championships, but they certainly made it worth it.
The NSW Youth Pathway Cup (YPC) team has also retained their winning streak. The future of NSW beach and water athletes have continued the legacy set by those, most of which are now competing in the Interstate team, by winning the third consecutive Youth Pathways Cup since it's inauguration three years ago.
While the host club for this year’s Envirobank NSW Country Surf Life Saving Championships came away with top billing, other Far North Coast clubs and competitors proved they are no slouches with five clubs featuring in the top ten.
